For college students who would like to take a closer look at career opportunities within the petrochemicals industry, Westlake sponsors internship programs within a variety of departments such as: Engineering, Operations, Chemistry, Procurement, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Information Systems, Accounting and Human Resources. Participants may intern as Maintenance Engineers, Operators, Lab Technicians, Analysts, just to name a few. In these positions, they will gain a better understanding of Westlake's business and learn more about its people and culture. Internship assignments mirror the experience and responsibilities of Westlake professionals and provide exposure to other functions. The hands-on experience is both challenging and rewarding, and provides the potential for valuable reinforcement to support career aspirations.

What You'll Do

As an intern, you will be asked to complete a variety of tasks and may work on several projects simultaneously. Participants will have opportunities to interact with senior managers, current program members and program alumni. Assignments and duties are driven by organizational and business needs. Some examples of assignments that could be included within the following area:

Engineering

  • Work on assigned projects with the close supervision of mentor/supervisor
  • Work closely with key team members on day-to-day plant activities
  • Actively participate in complex safety/environmental programs
